AC Power can be converted into DC power using a circuit called a rectifer. This DC power can be converted into AC power using a circuit called an inverter. This “double conversion” is used by online UPS Systems to derive a new high quality power waveform. The rectifier creates DC power used for charging batteries and for creating the DC buss on which the inverter sits. The inverter then uses the DC voltage on the buss to generate a sinusoidal AC power waveform.
