Information On Installing Car Double DIN Monitor

With all the latest technological advancements taking place so rapidly it is becoming a bit of a challenge to understand and operate a car stereo. Some of the latest technologies include GPS, Bluetooth speakers and automatic DVD changers. A double DIN DVD monitor is one such advancement and has become quite popular in the recent years. In this article I am going to show you how to install a double DIN monitor DVD in your car. The typical panel size of a single DIN unit is 180*50 mm but the panel size of a double DIN unit is 180*100 mm. so it is pretty obvious that the main difference between a single DIN unit and a double DIN unit lies in the size of the panel. With a larger panel size, a double DIN unit allows the user to access GPS or watch a movie. For the purpose of illustration I am using a 2005 silverado but the same steps are applicable to almost all types of cars.

After placing your foot on the brake pedal turn on the key to the ON position and shift the gear to position ‘1′. Now if possible tilt the angle of your car`s steering wheel so that the bezel surrounding the dash board can easily be removed with the help of tour hands. After this turn off the ignition and park your vehicle.

The first step is to press the break and then turn on the keys. Then change the column shifter to position 1. then the bezel that is surrounding the dash board is pulled of. Then keep the removed portion away and park the car. Then after that turn the engine off.

Remove the stereo from the dash board with the help of the 0.25 inch ratchet and socket and remove the wiring harness from the dashboard and the antenna. Now place the vehicle specific dash kit in the dash board and slide the cage of the double din DVD monitor inside the dash kit.

Next thing to do is the key should be turned to on position and column shifter is pulled to ‘one’ position . The bezel is pulled off with hands . It is usually located around the dash board. Next switch off the ignition of the car.

Now connect the dashboard wiring harness with the vehicle specific wiring harness and allow the plug to hang out of the cage. Now you have to plug the GM antenna adapter into the factory antenna lead.

Now connect the wiring from the double din and the antenna into the stereo unit’s back side. Now slowly insert the stereo into the dash board until a double click is heard. This ensures that the stereo is back in its place. Now the bezel is placed back in the reverse order of how it was removed.

By following these steps install a double din monitor DVD and access navigation system and movies with ease.
